Mission Statement of Burmese Muslim Association

The Burmese Muslims have lived peacefully together with all the nationalities of Burma since its very early days. We are ourselves the descendents from all the ethnic peoples of Burma, but are followers of the Islamic faith – a religion of peace.

We have always been at the forefront along with the other peoples of Burma, not only during the struggle against colonial rule; but also as participants in the cultural, educational, social development, national unity, human rights and democracy of Burma throughout its history.

At the request of General Aung San, the Founding Father of Burma’s independence, our respected hero, martyr and beloved Burmese Muslim leader U Razak founded the first nationwide Burman Muslim Congress in 1945; and served as the first chairman of the Congress. Since then, Burman Muslim Congress became an integral part of Burma’s independence struggle; and Burman Muslim Congress represented all Burmese Muslims regardless of political affiliation.

We, the new generation of Burmese Muslim, following the proud footsteps of our forefathers, and desirous of carrying on and participating in the unfinished struggle of Burma’s Second Struggle for Independence under the leadership of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, have formed the Burmese Muslim Association on October 23, 2006, with branches in many countries around the world.

The Burmese Muslim Association will relentlessly and conscientiously follow the path of our ancestors with vigor, courage, wisdom and altruism, until a just and free Federal Democratic Union is achieved.

We will serve, honor, love and protect our country with selflessness at all times.
